چکیده

While intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) assisted wireless communication has emerged as an important research paradigm, channel state information (CSI) acquisition remains a critical challenge to design the IRS phase-shifts and yield promised coherent beamforming gains. In this letter, we propose IRS-assisted opportunistic (OBF) scheme under proportional fair scheduling, which does not require instantaneous CSI parameters. slow-fading environment, show that with only random rotations at IRS, proposed can capitalize on multi-user (MU)-diversity effect approach performance of number users grows large. Next study sum-rate scaling OBF in correlated Rayleigh fast fading environment deterministic results considerable improvement.

Opportunistic beamforming using dumb antennas

Multiuser diversity is a form of diversity inherent in a wireless network, provided by independent time varying channels across the different users. The diversity benefit is exploited by tracking the channel fluctuations of the users and scheduling transmissions to users when their instantaneous channel quality is near the peak. The diversity gain increases with the dynamic range of the fluctua...

Opportunistic Relaying without CSI: Optimizing Variable-Rate HARQ

We analyze the opportunistic relaying based on hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmission over the block-fading channel with absence of channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter nodes. We assume that both the source and the relay are allowed to vary their transmission rate between the HARQ transmission rounds. We solve the problem of throughput maximization with respect to the...

Performance Analysis of cooperative SWIPT System: Intelligent Reflecting Surface versus Decode-and-Forward

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

Achieving near Beamforming Performance with Quantized CSI

Beamforming needs to have the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter. The CSI is measured at the receiver and is fed back to the transmitter in the quantized form. Quantized CSI affects the BER performance. Casting the problem of quantization as a vector quantization (VQ) problem, we try to quantize the channel information in such a way as to minimize the loss in the performance due...

Hierarchical Polar Coding for Achieving Secrecy over Fading Wiretap Channels without any Instantaneous CSI

This paper presents a polar coding scheme to achieve secrecy in block fading binary symmetric wiretap channels without the knowledge of instantaneous channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter. For this model, a coding scheme that hierarchically utilizes polar codes is presented. In particular, on polarization of different binary symmetric channels over different fading blocks, each cha...
